Classifying your material GREATLY improves gold recovery, and Jobe makes some of the nicest classifiers and sieves going. They're light weight, compact, tough, stackable and they fit nicely in a 5-gallon bucket or right in your gold pan.

These classifiers feature rugged plastic and stainless steel construction for years of use. The high quality stainless steel woven wire mesh is tough enough for daily use in the field while still providing accurate classification.

The dimensions are 12" by 3 1/2", with the bottom tapered slightly to fit in a 5 gallon bucket and to allow nested classification. Stacked four high, the total height is only 6 1/2 inches.

Material of the same size is always easier to separate with gravity methods than unclassified material. The time savings in panning alone by making it possible to quickly wash material, pull off the larger rocks, check for nuggets and pan it out makes them a must have, but using a classifier will also make your gold pan, sluice box, shaker table, etc work more efficiently and help you recover more gold.

Classification is so important to gold recovery, that almost every piece of larger equipment built has some means of classification built in. Take the grizzly on a high banker, the multi-stage and over-under sluice designs on many dredges, the large spinning drums on trommel operations, etc - all of those are classifiers.

Just remember to always check your classifier before emptying. You may be very pleasantly surprised by what didn't fit through the screen!
